Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Windsor chairs developed in 18th-century England, named after the town of Windsor where they were traded to London. Regional centres such as Buckinghamshire and Nottinghamshire, particularly Worksop, produced distinct variations during the 19th century using local hardwoods.

Windsor chairs were built using various native hardwoods. Yew wood was favoured for bent parts like hoops and arms, while elm was commonly selected for the solid carved seats, and ash or beech were used for turned legs and spindles.

Authentic pieces often exhibit maker stamps along the seat edge, hand-carved fretwork splats, wedge-tenon joinery through the seat, and natural wear to turned legs and stretchers.

A Windsor armchair functions as an accent chair in a hallway, reading corner, or bedroom, pairing well with contemporary natural textiles and neutral colour palettes.

Maintain timber by applying beeswax once or twice a year to nourish the finish. Keep the chair away from central heating radiators and direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and cracking.
