Description

A quality antique brooch in solid 15-carat gold set with a line of 10 gleaming natural seed pearls outlined in contrasting black enamel. The construction and design of the piece are quite elegant, it's a very pleasing little object!

Marked 15CT on the reverse.

The brooch is in very good antique condition. There is *very* slight enamel loss in the thin strips edging the pearls but you have to look hard under a magnifying glass to see it. The pearls all have lovely shiny nacre.

Fifteen-carat gold pieces are not overly common (in the UK only really used between 1854 and 1932) and as this fineness was generally used in high quality pieces, it is attractive to collectors.
