Mark Seabrook Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
....the top rail of the chair is nicely shaped as are the two arms and supports...... the "rockers" have been added in Victorian times as it would have spent a lot of its life standing on damp floors in the "lambing" shed or the cottage / farmhouse kitchen, where the floors had no damp proofing.... it even has a very useful drawer under the seat.
English / Yorkshire Dales. C1770-90.
