Very decorative and beautifully carved 19th century English six tier serpentine front waterfall bookcase (or “whatnot”) with a frieze drawer, circa 1860 and in good original condition.
The fret carved shelf backs and spindles, also the shelves themselves are in solid mahogany with a good rich and consistent colour tone, all beeswaxed to give it a mellow glow.
The waterfall effect gives you graduating shelf heights, also nice to have the frieze drawer too.
Great for display or as a bookcase, stands solid and firm.
Measuring:
61 1/2 inches or 156 cm high
34 1/2 inches or 88 cm wide
14 inches or 36 cm deep
11 inches or 28 cm bottom shelves height
9’’ / 8“ / 7“ top half shelves height
