Description:
This is a fine antique English mud 18th century Georgian oak settle, from the George II period, circa 1750, comprising four panels, which measures 5ft wide, boasts a stunning colour and is in excellent original condition.
The sturdy down-swept arms are secured by shaped vertical supports to a solid two panel oak seat, with a straight frieze below. The oak bench stands on primitive block feet to the front and rear, all of which are united by bar stretchers, for additional strength. The Georgian oak settle frame has been constructed in the traditional manner with pegged and joined construction. It is unusual to see early mid 18th century oak settle of this size, in such excellent original condition - this makes it highly desirable.

Condition Report:
Nominal old use marks to the leading edges, frame, sides and drawer bottoms, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no breaks to the frame or legs. The George II settle retains its original polish, boasts a rich oxblood period oak colour. The Georgian seat bench is solid in joint and has been traditionally wax polished, by hand, in our workshop, to a professional standard, therefore, the finish, colour and patination are of an excellent standard. The Georgian oak settle is well constructed, solid in joint and is ready to be used.
