Description

Originating from Czech republic this Art Deco vase visually looks stunning with it's very distinctive colourway and patterning . The glass is extremely thick and therefore the vase itself is deceptively heavy. Also to note it's a very unusual shape, being square and in so offers a very attractive and interesting view at any angle. Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco glassware from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by bold geometric shapes, angular forms, and contrasting graphic patterns. Makers often utilised techniques such as enamel decoration, acid-etching, and cut glass to create dramatic visual movement.

Artisans typically employed heavy lead or soda-lime glass, shaped into structured forms. Surface decoration relied on dark vitrified enamels, acid etching, and precise hand-cutting to reveal transparent sections against opaque panels.

Authentic pieces generally feature heavy, high-quality glass with polished flat bases, alongside distinct geometric enamel patterns. Look for crisp etched details, hand-applied black or coloured enamelling, and consistent geometric proportions typical of Czech workshops.

Place the piece on a minimalist console table, sideboard, or mantelpiece where natural light can accentuate the contrast between translucent glass and solid enamel. Style it either as a standalone sculptural object or filled with simple floral stems to avoid overwhelming the graphic pattern.

Wash gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals that could strip the surface decoration. Do not place cold glass in hot water or clean it in a dishwasher, as thermal shock can cause cracking.
