Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch rugs were traditionally woven by nomadic and semi-nomadic Baluch tribes residing in eastern Persia and western Afghanistan. Crafted primarily for personal utility rather than commercial export, these late 19th-century textiles reflect tribal identity through inherited geometric motifs and rich, dark colour palettes.

These carpets were hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun sheep wool for both the pile and the warp and weft foundation. Natural vegetable and mineral dyes produced the signature palette of deep indigo blues, dark reds, terracottas, and natural goat hair or dark wool for the finished selvedges.

Authentic Baluch rugs feature soft, lustrous wool, a flexible handle, and dark tones dominated by navy blue, deep madder red, and chocolate brown. They typically exhibit repeating geometric motifs, latch-hook elements, and intricate kilim flat-weave ends rather than standard floral patterns.

An antique tribal rug grounds modern living spaces by introducing texture, warm colour tones, and historical depth. It works exceptionally well placed beneath a coffee table, layering over a neutral jute carpet, or complementing dark wooden furniture in a home office or library.

Preserve an antique wool rug by vacuuming gently using suction only, avoiding rotating beater bars that loosen fibers. Rotate the rug periodically to distribute foot traffic evenly, use a high-quality rug underlay, and arrange professional hand-washing by a specialist oriental carpet restorer when needed.
