Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian walnut furniture, prominent from the mid-to-late 19th century, is recognised for its figured wood veneers, decorative burr walnut, and turned detailing. Pieces from this era often feature curvilinear forms, turned support pedestals, and crossbanded borders along table tops.

Tables from this period were constructed using solid wood framing surfaced with thin sheets of decorative walnut veneer. Structural features typically include hand-cut joinery, turned pedestal legs connected by stretchers, and brass castors fitted to the base.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display natural timber patination, minor surface variations in hand-applied veneers, and age-related wear on the underside of the frame. Look for period-correct brass castors, hand-turned timber supports, and natural oxidisation on unpolished interior surfaces.

An antique walnut table can be placed behind a sofa, along a hallway wall, or within a dedicated reading area. The deep timber tones contrast well with contemporary ceramic accessories, modern lighting, and neutral wall palettes.

Keep walnut veneer furniture away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to avoid timber shrinkage or veneer lifting. Dust regular with a clean dry cloth and apply beeswax periodically to maintain the timber finish.
