What periods do these paintings come from?

The works span multiple centuries, ranging from seventeenth-century pieces and eighteenth-century examples to nineteenth-century realist works and mid-twentieth-century interpretations. Buyers will find that mid-century canvases from nineteen-sixty sit alongside much older historical compositions.

What materials were used?

Painters primarily utilised oil paint on canvas or wooden panels, though watercolours on paper and gouache also appear. Many of these artworks retain their period frames constructed from wood, gesso, and gilt.

How should I display them?

These framed paintings suit traditional wall displays in living areas, studies, or hallways where their subject matter provides a calm focal point. Keep them away from direct sunlight and damp conditions to preserve the oil paint and wooden frames.

How do I spot a winter scene?

Winter scenes typically feature snow-covered landscapes, frozen canals, and figures ice skating under pale skies. These compositions often emphasise cold daylight and atmospheric frost effects.
