How do I hang a bottle tag on a decanter?

Most tags include an original linked silver chain that slips easily over the neck of the decanter. Position the chain so the tag rests against the upper shoulder of the vessel below the stopper.

Are these silver tags safe to use with modern decanters?

Solid silver labels are durable and safe for everyday use on glass decanters. Ensure the chain length matches the circumference of your specific decanter neck to prevent sliding.

How do I tell a Georgian silver label from a Victorian one?

Georgian examples often display sharper hand-engraving and distinct duty marks alongside maker initials. Victorian pieces frequently utilise heavier stamped vine leaf borders and more standardised lettering styles.

What do unusual drink titles mean for a collection?

Titles such as Cayenne, Moselle, or specific individual terms indicate specialised contents rather than standard table wines. Such inscriptions usually mark the piece as scarcer within the historical record.
