These works were typically housed within domestic interiors, framed in wood or decorative gilt surrounds to complement home decor. They served as enduring representations of seasonal blooms for sitting rooms and studies.

What is the difference between canvas and board supports?

Canvas involves woven fabric stretched across a wooden frame, providing a flexible surface with visible textile texture. Board refers to a rigid panel or millboard, which offers a completely firm foundation for the oil pigments.
