How should I hang green framed paper artwork?

Display these pieces away from direct sunlight to prevent the watercolour pigments and paper supports from fading over time. Keep them in rooms with stable humidity levels to protect both the antique paper and the wooden frames from moisture damage.

What periods do these artworks come from?

The listings include works from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, encompassing Victorian, Edwardian, and mid-century periods. Earlier items such as eighteenth-century pith paper paintings and woodblock prints also appear alongside twentieth-century gouache and lithographs.

Are these pieces original or prints?

The selection contains a mixture of unique hand-painted works, such as original watercolours and gouache drawings, alongside period printed material. Listings specify the medium, distinguishing original paintings from published prints and lithographic editions.

How do I care for antique paper art?

Ensure the backing board and framing materials are acid-free to prevent chemical breakdown of the paper over long periods. Avoid hanging the art in damp environments such as unheated spaces, which encourages foxing and mould growth on the paper.
