What holds up a heavy urn on these stands?

Solid timber cores, weighted stone bases, and robust internal framing provide the necessary load-bearing strength for heavy decorative objects. Marble and onyx tops further distribute weight evenly across the column structure without flexing.

How do I clean gilt surfaces safely?

Dust surfaces gently with a soft, dry ostrich feather duster to remove particles without disturbing delicate gold leaf. Avoid liquid cleaners, abrasives, and chemical polishes that strip away historic gesso and metallic finishes.

Where should I place a torchere stand?

Position these vertical stands in corners or flanking architectural doorways where their height creates a strong visual anchor. Ensure they stand on level flooring to prevent tipping when holding heavy sculptural pieces.

How do I spot a later copy?

Examine the wear patterns on the gilding and the oxidation on bronze mounts to understand the object's age. Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display genuine patina and construction methods appropriate to their period.
