Maid's maintenance sets and heavy iron suites were built for practical, everyday hearth upkeep. More ornamental brass sets often balanced utility with decorative display in formal sitting rooms.

How do I display a set at home?

Place the companion stand directly beside the fireplace hearth where the individual tools remain easily accessible for tending fires. Ensure the floor surface or hearth rug can safely accommodate the weight of cast iron or brass bases. Matching the metal finish of the tools to existing fireplace fenders or coal buckets creates a cohesive interior aesthetic.
