How do I wear drop earrings?

These earrings are designed to sit just below the earlobe, creating graceful movement with every turn of the head. Their pendant nature makes them well-suited for evening wear or elevated daytime dressing. Pair them with simple necklines to let the articulated metalwork and diamond sparkle remain the focal point of your outfit.

Are these earrings comfortable for daily wear?

Most period drop earrings are engineered to be lightweight, particularly those utilising platinum frames that reduce bulk while maintaining strength. Secure fastenings ensure they remain safely in place throughout the day. Take care to store them individually in a soft pouch to protect the delicate dangling elements from tangling or impact.

How can I tell the period?

Dating relies on examining the metal combinations, such as gold backed with silver, and the characteristic use of platinum for fine pierced work. The presence of hand-cut stones like old European or rose cuts points firmly to the early twentieth century. Motifs such as bows, foliate scrolls, and geometric drops further help distinguish authentic Edwardian work from later reproductions.

What maintenance do antique earrings need?

Gentle cleaning with a soft brush and warm soapy water will keep the metal and diamonds bright. Avoid harsh chemical dips, especially if the earrings incorporate softer materials like pearls or jadeite. Have a professional jeweler periodically check the settings and wire connections to ensure the stones and drops remain secure.
