Unusual Design Antique Sarouk Rug. West Persia. 198cm X 128cm.

Description

West persia,arak province,circa 1910s.

A beautiful sarouk rug with a more unusual design of eight floral flower & foliage scrolls surrounding a double ended pendant central medallion outlined in a light yellow/ochre.

Contrasting floral main border with twin minor guard stripes picked out in ochre.

A very balanced layout of design coupled with a very firm handle and hard wearing wool.

Has been hand washed & de-dusted,last six images.

All over even pile. Sides and ends secured.

Size is 6 foot 6 inches by 4 foot 2 inches. 198cm X 128cm. At widest points. Lustrous fine dense wool pile hand knotted onto cotton foundations with the wefts dyed light blue.
