Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Introduced in 18th-century Britain, dumb waiters were multi-tiered movable side tables designed to hold desserts, wines, and dining accoutrements, allowing hostesses and guests to serve themselves without servants present in the dining room.

Traditional Georgian dumb waiters were typically constructed from solid mahogany, featuring turned central pillars, dovetailed joints, hand-carved tripod legs, and occasionally decorative pierced brass galleries.

Authentic 18th and early 19th-century pieces often display hand-turned centre columns, original brass castors with period screws, hand-drilled fittings, and natural wood shrinkage along the grain of the circular tops.

In contemporary spaces, a two-tier dumb waiter functions effectively as a distinctive side table beside armchairs, a curated plant stand, or a compact bar cart display for glassware in living and dining areas.

Maintain the wood finish by dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax polish along the grain annually, while polishing brass galleries gently to prevent abrasive damage to the timber border.
