Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, also known as a tallboy or highboy, is a two-part storage unit featuring a narrower chest of drawers fitted on top of a slightly wider chest of drawers. Popularised in 18th-century Britain during the Georgian era, it provided extensive vertical storage while minimising floor space usage.

Georgian chests on chest were predominantly constructed from dense timbers such as flame mahogany, walnut, or oak. Drawer linings were typically made of oak or pine, joined with handmade dovetail joints and fitted with cast brass drop handles.

Authentic George III chests on chest usually feature hand-sawn dovetail drawer construction, oak or pine secondary woods, and genuine hand-cut brass backplates. Look for smooth wear patterns on drawer runners, original bracket feet, and distinct vertical separation between the upper and lower sections.

A mahogany chest on chest functions as a striking focal piece in modern master bedrooms, hallway landings, or formal dressing rooms. Contrast its deep timber tones against neutral walls, pairing it with contemporary lighting or understated artwork to balance traditional craftsmanship with modern simplicity.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme changes in humidity to prevent wood warping or veneer splitting. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the finish.
