Edwardian 0.50 Carat Old Cut Diamond & 0.55 Carat Sythentic Ruby Ring, Dated 1908

Description

A special, unique antique ruby and diamond ring. The old European cut diamond displays a clear and distinct champagne hue, beautifully off-set by the bright pinkish red of the synthetic ruby opposite. Synthetic rubies were first invented in the early 1800s but the process was refined around the year 1900 and they enjoyed a burst of popularity in the early part of the 20th century. Both the gems are rubover set in 18k white gold and are set either side of a gently curving D-shaped shank with decorative trefoil flourishes at the shoulders.

Hallmarks from the Birmingham assay office, 1908.

Accompanied by an independent jewellery report by IGR (#30310231).

Cut – Old European cut diamond and round cut ruby.

Colour – The diamond is M.

Clarity – The diamond is SI1.

Carat – The diamond is approximately 0.50 carat. The ruby is approximately 0.55 carat.

Dated – 1908.

Size – L 1/2 (UK) or 5 7/8 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.

Measurements – From the outer edge of one outer ruby to the other is 12.5mm. The ring is 6mm at the widest point and sits 2.8mm from the finger.

Metal – 18k gold. Fully hallmarked.
