Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV style spans from 1830 to 1837, marking a transitional period between Regency and Victorian design. It is characterised by substantial proportions, prominent turned columns, bold scroll carved details, and the extensive use of flame mahogany veneers.

Tables from this period were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or oak frameworks, frequently dressed with flame mahogany veneers. Secondary woods such as pine or deal were used for drawer linings, and cast iron or brass fittings were used for castors and lock mechanisms.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original locks, hand-carved scroll brackets, and natural shrinkage or patination across the timber surfaces. The underside should show hand-sawn timber marks and age-consistent darkening.

Position the table alongside contemporary upholstered sofas or in an entryway to establish visual contrast. Complement the dark mahogany timber with modern ceramics, minimalist lamps, or abstract artwork to balance traditional structure with current design trends.

Clean surfaces regularly using a dry microfiber cloth, and apply a natural beeswax polish annually following the direction of the wood grain. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent heat damage, fading, or wood shrinkage.
