Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced during the reign of King William IV between 1830 and 1837, this style acts as a transition between Regency and early Victorian design. It features clean classical proportions combined with turned details and rich timber finishes.

Solid mahogany and mahogany veneers were widely favoured for high-quality English tables during this period due to their durability and fine grain. Other traditional timber species included oak, rosewood, and walnut.

Look for features such as turned, tapered legs, hand-dovetailed drawer joints, original turned timber handles, and signs of authentic wear on unvarnished underside surfaces.

Position the table beside a sofa or bed to create a contrast between historic craftsmanship and clean contemporary lines. Pair it with a modern ceramic lamp or minimalist decorative objects to complement the warm wood tones.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and moisture to prevent fading or timber warping.
