This is an antique carpenter's chest. An English, pine tool trunk, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.

Dutiful craftsmen's chest with great colour and weathering

Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order

Pine stocks show fine grain interest and warm caramel hues

Cast iron strapping to corners and fascia with deep black tones

Classic proportion and fittings, with interior candle box

Stout lid opens to near 90 degrees and held upright with a brass chain stay and rear rest

Dressed with a locking slide clasp — in working order, key present with Victorian One Penny fob

Pair of drop handles over stout backplates aid ease of carriage
