Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late eighteenth century and widely produced throughout the Edwardian period, a nest of tables is a set of graduated occasional tables designed to slide neatly beneath one another. They were created to offer flexible surface area for entertaining tea guests without permanently occupying floor space.

Edwardian nested tables were primarily constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, and satinwood. Construction techniques often featured mortise and tenon joinery, molded tabletops, and delicate wooden stretchers to ensure stability while maintaining a lightweight frame.

Authentic Edwardian sets display refined, slim proportions, lighter finishes than earlier Victorian examples, and precise hand joinery. Inspecting the underside reveals hand-cut dovetails, subtle age-related wear, original varnish patination, and proportional graduation between each table frame.

In modern living spaces, a nest of tables can remain fully stacked beside an armchair or sofa to act as a compact side table. Alternatively, the individual tables can be staggered alongside seating during social gatherings to provide additional drink surfaces.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage, joint loosening, and colour fading.
