Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian centre table is an occasional table produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910). Designed to stand freely in the middle of a parlour, foyer, or drawing room, these tables typically feature symmetrical geometric tops, lighter proportions than earlier Victorian designs, and polished hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut.

Edwardian furniture makers predominantly used solid mahogany, rosewood, and satinwood, often adorned with ebony or boxwood stringing. Legs were frequently turned or carved into cabriole shapes, and tables were often fitted with lower undertier shelves for added stability and brass castors for mobility.

Authentic Edwardian tables display refined craftsmanship, including hand-finished timber surfaces, delicate grain patterns, and hand-fitted brass castors on the feet. Look for lighter construction techniques compared to heavy Victorian pieces, alongside characteristic features like octagonal or oval tops and swept stretchers connecting a central undertier.

An octagonal centre table works effectively as a focal point in an entry hall, a bay window, or as an occasional side table beside living room seating. Display a single ceramic vase, stacked art books, or a table lamp on the upper surface while leaving the lower undertier largely clear to maintain visual lightness.

Preserve the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the wood grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and high humidity to prevent timber shrinkage, warping, or fading of the original patina.
