Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency mantel clocks, dating from the early nineteenth century, combine neoclassicism with romantic sculpture. They frequently feature cast ormolu or patinated bronze figures atop architectural bases, housing precise striking horological movements.

These timepieces were crafted using gilded bronze, known as ormolu, alongside patinated or ebonised metal and wooden bases. Dial plates were often silvered or enameled, paired with steel hands and brass clockwork mechanisms.

Authentic period examples display hand-chased gilding, heavy cast components, and original mechanical movements with countwheel or rack striking systems. Worn mercury gilding and hand-finished clockwork details further indicate provenance.

Position the clock centrally on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard top, or library console table to serve as a focal point. Combining it with minimalist contemporary art or traditional mirror frames balances historical weight with modern design.

Dust gilt metal surfaces softly using a dry camel-hair brush, avoiding liquid cleaners or abrasive polishes that strip gilding. Mechanical movements require periodic servicing by a qualified horologist every five to seven years.
