Donnelly Antiques Ltd has dated this Antique Leather Book Set to the 19th Century.
These first ten volumes, from the 25 volume Library Edition, contain 11 novels with illustrations bound in half polished tan calf over marbled boards, the marbling repeated to the end papers and page edges.
The books have the plate of St Andrew Warde (1806-1887) who emigrated to Australia and married in Brisbane in 1867 where the books were bound by Watson & Co.

Volume I - Waverley has a split all along the internal hinge and some splitting to the external hinge which is loose but still held in place by 2 of the 4 stitches with that to the top and bottom having broken. Heavy foxing to the first and last few pages and more lighter foxing regularly appearing throughout although mainly restricted to around the margins. Externally fair amount of wear to the marbled paper to the boards and board edges as well as bumping to some edges and corners. Spines with some scuffing, marks and wear.
Each volume measures 23.3 cm, has a depth of 16.1 cm and a total shelf coverage of 44 cm. The total combined unpackaged weight is approximately 12.5 kg.
