19thc Staffordshire Figures of Male and Female Seated Turks

Description

From a collection of rare staffordshire figures we have bought 2 antique 19th century figures of seated turkish musicians.

We think they are a pair but to be on the safe side we are selling as 2, a male and a female.

They both measure 19cms tall and 8cms wide.

We are dating them as 1860 could be earlier . The factory could well be shelton stoke in trent

They appear perfect but we feel the arm of the.male may have had good restoration as has the arm of the female.

Similar are illustrated in a couple of staffordshire reference books , oliver and "staffordshire portrait figures"

Staffordshire pottery figures are lead-glazed earthenware ornaments produced in the Staffordshire potteries region of England, predominantly throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, depicting historical, biblical, and cultural subjects.
