Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Edwardian bureau bookcase is a dual-function furniture piece featuring a fall-front writing desk beneath a glazed upper cabinet designed for storing and displaying books, originating during the reign of King Edward VII.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from solid and veneered mahogany, decorated with satinwood inlay or marquetry, fitted with glass panes for glazing, and finished with solid brass handles.

Authentic Edwardian pieces exhibit lighter proportions than Victorian predecessors, precise dovetail drawer construction, fine wood inlays, and geometric astragal glazing bars on the cabinet doors.

Position the piece in a study, hallway, or living area, utilizing the upper glass shelves to display contemporary ceramics alongside books to balance traditional dark mahogany tones.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply a clear beeswax polish sparingly along the grain once or twice a year, and keep the piece away from direct sunlight or radiators.
