Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian bureau bookcases, produced around 1901 to 1910, combine late Victorian utility with lighter 18th-century revival influences like Chippendale and Hepplewhite. They typically feature mahogany timber, delicate astragal glazing, slender cabriole or bracket feet, and integrated drop-down writing surfaces over graduated drawers.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers over pine or oak secondary frameworks. Glazed upper doors feature float glass held by wooden glazing bars, finished with cast brass drop handles and steel mortise locks.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer linings, original brass drop handles with mild oxidisation, and hand-bevelled or floating panel backs. authentic period glass may display slight waviness or air bubbles typical of early 20th-century production.

Place the unit in a home office, hallway, or living room to serve as both display cabinet and compact writing workstation. Pair with contemporary task lighting and minimalist accessories to balance the dark timber tones and traditional proportions.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer lifting. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish twice annually following the grain direction, and clean glazed panels using a dry microfiber cloth.
