We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A campaign chest of drawers is a modular piece of furniture designed for British military officers to transport during military operations in the 18th and 19th centuries. Typically constructed in two sections, these chests feature flush brass mounts and recessed handles to prevent damage during transit.

Campaign furniture was primarily built using durable hardwoods such as teak, mahogany, or camphor wood to withstand climate variations and transit. Fittings were made of recessed brass, including flush pull handles, corner brackets, and strapwork designed to sit flush with the timber surface.

Authentic military campaign chests split horizontally into two separate transportable sections and feature brass corner straps, carrying handles on the sides, and recessed drawer pulls. Look for hand-cut dovetail joints, original screw configurations on brass plates, and evidence of screw-in feet intended for removal during transport.

A military campaign chest serves as a functional focal point in modern bedrooms, home offices, or hallways. Pairing the clean lines and brass detailing of the chest with contemporary artwork, warm lighting, and tailored textiles creates a balanced aesthetic.

To maintain an antique campaign chest, dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply high-quality beeswax paste polish twice yearly along the grain of the timber. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners on brass hardware, and place the chest away from direct heat sources or sunlight to prevent wood movement.
