Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A military campaign chest of drawers is a sectional storage piece designed specifically for military officers to transport easily on military expeditions during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. These chests typically separate into two stackable sections and feature recessed metal hardware to prevent damage during movement.

Traditional campaign chests were constructed using durable hardwoods such as mahogany, teak, or camphorwood to withstand temperature variations and sea travel. Construction hallmarks include protective brass corner brackets, brass strapwork, recessed flush handles, and hand-cut dovetail drawer joints.

Authentic nineteenth-century campaign chests feature flush-mounted brass hardware, brass corner reinforcing straps, and a clear horizontal dividing line where the top section lifts off the bottom. Original pieces often retain carrying handles on the outer sides and show hand-cut joinery within the drawer construction.

A campaign chest functions effectively as a focal point in a hallway, bedroom, or living area, bringing rich timber tones and crisp geometric metalwork to a room. Combining the piece with modern abstract artwork, neutral textured fabrics, and subtle brass accents creates a balanced mix of historical structure and contemporary design.

Maintain the mahogany finish by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice per year. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and extreme moisture fluctuations, and wipe the original brass hardware lightly without using abrasive chemical polishes.
