Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A drop dial clock is a wall-mounted timepiece featuring a circular clock face set above a narrow, dropped wooden trunk that houses the pendulum, powered by a fusee movement to maintain constant tension as the spring unwinds.

These timepieces are constructed primarily with flame mahogany cases, cast brass bezels, glass crystal face covers, and painted iron dials, housing solid brass mechanical gear trains within.

Authentic period examples feature a heavy cast-brass movement driven by gut or wire lines wound around a conical fusee, hand-carved case ears, and hand-painted Roman numerals on the dial.

Position the timepiece on a narrow wall, above a console table, or within an office library to add architectural character and warm timber tones to contemporary schemes.

Dust the exterior regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid placing the case near radiators or direct sunlight to prevent timber movement, and instruct a professional horologist to service the movement every five to seven years.
