Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian brass candlesticks typically feature turned baluster stems, decorative knops, and structured bases such as octagonal or circular shapes. Produced during the nineteenth century, they reflect the industrial expansion of metal casting techniques across Britain.

These items were cast in solid brass, often using two-part moulds joined longitudinally or turned on a lathe. Many original nineteenth-century examples featured internal push-up mechanisms designed to eject burnt candle stubs.

Authentic pieces generally display continuous seam lines along the stem, thread wear on screwed components, and evidence of hand-finishing. They also tend to possess significant physical weight and natural surface oxidisation inside the hollow base.

Brass candlesticks can be arranged in pairs along a dining table, displayed on a fireplace mantelpiece, or grouped with ceramic vessels on a sideboard. Combining metallic accents with neutral textiles creates balanced visual texture.

Remove excess wax by rinsing under warm water rather than using sharp tools. To retain natural surface patina, wipe gently with a soft microfibre cloth or clean with a specialised brass polish applied sparingly.
