I have the matching small sofa listed under my other items.

These are a very good armchairs indeed. They are original tub armchairs so they have beautifully curved backs which leads elegantly around and down to the arms. The frames are solid oak and are finished with industrial steel castors.

The cushions have been restuffed with goose and down feathers, they have what’s called Thomas Chippendale floating buttons to the cushions.

The pair have been fully restored to include having the old colour washed back, they’ve then been hand dyed this lovely deep cigar brown colour. The timber frames have been washed back and French polished. The idea behind this restoration is to keep the original patina but make the colour glorious.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian tub chairs feature a rounded, continuous backrest that curves smoothly into the armrests, upholstered in natural leather hide for durability and ergonomic comfort.

Traditional construction incorporated solid hardwood framing, hand-tied coil springs, natural fillings such as horsehair, decorative brass studs, and hand-finished leather.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-turned wooden legs, original brass castors, individual hand-tacked metal studs, and natural aged patina within the grain of the hide.

Position a pair opposite a neutral sofa or flanking a low side table to create a structured conversational zone that adds warmth and texture to contemporary spaces.

Apply a specialized leather nourishing balm periodically to maintain flexibility, position the furniture away from direct heat sources, and clean the brass studding with a soft dry cloth.
