Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Furniture from the George IV period (18201830) bridges late Regency refinement and early Victorian solidity. It frequently features rich mahogany timber, flame mahogany veneers, classical carved details, and robust proportions suitable for grand domestic interiors.

These pieces were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over pine or oak secondary framework. Upper sections featured individual hand-blown glass panes, while internal fittings relied on brass brackets or wooden shelf ladders.

Authentic items display hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original brass lock plates, hand-planed back boards, and slight irregularities in the glass panes. Flame mahogany wood grains were typically selected for high-visibility door panels and drawer fronts.

Position the piece against neutral or deeply toned walls to anchor the room. Balance the visual weight of dark mahogany by styling the shelves with modern ceramics, minimalist glassware, or contemporary sculpture alongside leather-bound volumes.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct exposure to radiators or harsh sunlight.
