Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets typically feature lighter proportions than earlier Victorian pieces, incorporating influences from 18th-century Chippendale, Sheraton, and Hepplewhite designs. Common features include glazed doors, fine wood veneers such as mahogany, decorative pediments, and carved or turned legs.

Cabinetmakers of the Edwardian era predominantly utilised solid mahogany, satinwood, and walnut for structural components, often applying decorative veneers and marquetry. Glazed sections feature clear float glass secured by hand-cut astragal glazing bars, complemented by cast brass hardware.

Authentic Edwardian furniture displays signs of period construction, such as hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, secondary timber backing like pine or oak, and natural age-related patination on hardware. Glazing bars will show slight irregularities from hand fabrication compared to modern machine production.

An antique display cabinet provides visual texture in modern spaces when positioned against neutral walls or paired with contemporary furniture. It serves as a focal point for displaying ceramics, glassware, books, or curated objects in dining rooms, living rooms, or hallways.

Maintain antique mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Position the cabinet away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp areas to prevent wood movement, cracking, or veneer lifting.
