Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian portrait miniature is a small-scale, detailed watercolour painting executed during the eighteenth or early nineteenth centuries, commonly painted on ivory, card, or vellum, and intended as a personal token.

These pieces were typically painted using fine watercolour pigments applied with miniature brushes onto thin sheets of ivory or card, then protected under glass within gold, pinchbeck, or silver mounts.

Authentic period examples demonstrate detailed stippling or cross-hatching techniques, period-specific clothing such as powdered hair or military uniforms, and hand-cut metal frames with hand-fitted glass covers.

Portrait miniatures can be displayed within glass shadowbox frames on gallery walls, arranged on velvet-lined trays, or positioned within contemporary acrylic blocks to showcase historic portraiture in modern settings.

Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and away from rapid temperature changes to prevent watercolour fading and warping, and clean the external metal mount using a dry microfibre cloth.
