Devonshire Antiques has dated this French Ormolu Mantel Clock to the 19th Century.
Zacharie Joseph Raingo has four sons , Adolphe , Charles , Denis and Dorsant and together they formed , Raingo Frères in 1823.
By the mid 19th century Raingo Frères had expanded the range of their output into other bronzes and furnishings. In the 1860s the firm supplied several clocks and bronzes to Emperor Napoleon 111 and his wife Empress Eugénie, which now form part of the collection at the Musée du Louvre.
The firm exhibited at the most important Exhibitions of the second half of the 19th century, winning a gold award at the 1889 exposition universelle in Paris.
This particular clock has a very fine Bacchanalia group after Clodion. The group is formed of a pair of Bacchante , followers of Bacchus, and a satyr twisting and twirling in a celebration of dance .
The clock has an eight day movement with strike ins bell and driven by pendulum with a white enamelled dial having Roman numerals.
Good condition and working order.
