Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian dish top tripod table is an 18th-century occasional table featuring a circular top with an raised moulded edge, supported by a central turned pedestal resting on three splayed cabriole legs. These tables were designed for serving tea, wine, or holding candles.

Dense West Indian mahogany was the primary wood used during the Georgian period due to its structural strength and fine grain. Construction relied on hand-turned pedestal pillars, hand-carved legs attached via dovetail joints, and iron or brass tilt mechanisms.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints securing the legs to the central column, uneven hand-planed undersides, and original catch mechanisms made of wrought iron or brass. The wooden top often shows subtle warping or shrinkage along the grain over time.

Position the table beside a sofa or armchair as a functional drinks surface, or place it in an unused alcove with the top tilted vertically to showcase the grain and carved rim when not in active use.

Apply high-quality beeswax polish annually to protect the original patina and timber moisture. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and modern heat sources to prevent cracking or warping of the mahogany top.
