Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A tallboy, or chest-on-stand, is an 18th-century furniture form comprising a chest of drawers mounted on a raised lower base with additional drawers and supported by turned or cabriole legs.

These chests were primarily constructed from locally sourced solid oak, with secondary timbers such as pine or poplar used for drawer linings, and fitted with cast brass drop or swan-neck handles.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn drawer bottoms, original timber shrinkage or patination, and evidence of hand-planing along backboards and internal linings.

Position the tallboy against a neutral or dark backdrop in a bedroom, hallway, or living area, pairing its warm timber tones with subtle ceramics or minimalist modern lighting.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent cracking, and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to protect the surface and preserve patination.
