Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, also referred to as a tallboy, is a piece of case furniture comprising two stacked drawer units designed to offer extensive vertical storage. The design gained popularity in Britain during the early eighteenth century, particularly throughout the Georgian period, as a space-saving solution for grand homes.

Georgian examples are predominantly crafted from dense mahogany or walnut, featuring hand-dovetailed drawer linings made of oak or pine. Design hallmarks include brass swan-neck or batwing handles, key escutcheons, blind fretwork detailing, chamfered corners, and sturdy bracket feet.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, uneven hand-cut dovetail joints, and age-related shrinkage in solid mahogany drawer bottoms. Original brass hardware will often show natural oxidisation, and the secondary timber inside the frame will display a dark, aged patina.

A Georgian tallboy functions well as a focal piece in a bedroom, hallway, or dressing room. To balance its dark wood and visual weight, pair it with neutral wall tones, minimalist modern artwork, and contrasting modern lighting.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage, cracking, or uneven fading of the finish.
