Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian dining chairs, produced between 1901 and 1910, often draw inspiration from 18th-century revival styles such as Hepplewhite and Chippendale. They frequently feature shield-shaped backrests, intricate pierced carved splats, slender proportions, and fine mahogany construction.

Mahogany and rosewood were the preferred timber choices for Edwardian cabinetmakers due to their rich grain and durability. Upholstered drop-in or fixed seats were commonly covered in damask, silk brocade, or leather fabrics.

Authentic Edwardian chairs feature traditional joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, natural age-related patination on the mahogany, and precise hand-carved detailing. Sets typically include both side chairs and armchairs, known as carvers.

Edwardian dining chairs can be integrated into modern spaces by pairing dark mahogany tones with contemporary neutral dining tables, or by reupholstering the seats in linen or modern geometric textiles to create an eclectic interior look.

Maintain timber surfaces by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cloth along the natural grain. Keep the chairs away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage of joints and fading of upholstery.
