Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian dining chairs, produced between 1901 and 1910, marked a move towards lighter, more elegant proportions compared to Victorian furniture. Designers frequently drew influence from 18th-century styles such as Chippendale and Hepplewhite, featuring pierced splats, delicate carving, and turned or tapered legs.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised mahogany, walnut, and rosewood, chosen for their fine grain and stability. Frame joints were constructed using mortise and tenon joinery, while seats were padded using natural stuffing such as horsehair and secured with brass tacks.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished joinery, crisp hand-carved detailing, and natural aging to the timber polish. The undersides often show historic tool marks, corner blocks for frame support, and evidence of traditional webbed seat construction.

Dark mahogany chairs can be paired with neutral contemporary dining tables made from marble or light wood to create visual contrast. Reupholstering the seat pads in modern textured linen or minimalist fabrics helps seamlessly integrate period chairs into modern spaces.

Maintain the wood by applying a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing along the grain with a soft cloth. Upholstery should be gently vacuumed with a brush attachment, and chairs should be kept away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage and fabric fading.
