Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III Sheraton sideboards, originating in late 18th-century Britain, are defined by their geometric balance, slender turned or tapered legs, and refined decorative inlays such as satinwood crossbanding. They frequently feature bowfront or breakfront outlines, fluted pilasters, and integrated brass rails along the rear edge designed to support display plates or protect wall coverings.

Primary timbers included dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany for structural framing and drawer fronts, valued for its rich grain and dark colour. Secondary timbers inside drawer linings were typically pine or oak, while decorative veneers utilized satinwood, boxwood, and tulipwood, trimmed with cast brass handles and back rails.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints inside drawers, uneven hand-sawn wood back panels, and natural shrinkage marks around drawer veneers. Original brassware should show slight irregularities from casting, alongside an accumulated natural patina within recessed areas and carving flutes.

A classic mahogany sideboard serves as a focal point in contemporary dining rooms, entryways, or living spaces. Anchoring the piece with modern framed artwork above or styling the surface with contemporary ceramics creates an understated contrast between traditional cabinetmaking and modern aesthetic elements.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent colour fading or shrinkage of inlaid veneers.
