Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Sheraton period demi-lune sideboard is defined by its semi-circular form, balanced proportions, and neoclassical influence popular in late 18th-century Britain. Typically crafted with slender tapered legs and decorative wood inlays, these pieces served both storage and serving functions in formal dining rooms.

Primary construction comprised high-grade flame mahogany, often decorated with satinwood or boxwood stringing and crossbanding. Drawer linings were typically made of oak or pine, fitted with stamped brass drop or ring handles.

Authentic 18th-century pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original brassware with natural patination, and secondary woods showing age-appropriate shrinking or oxidisation. The underside and back panels display hand-sawn timber marks rather than machine-cut finishes.

Position the curved piece against a prominent hallway or dining wall to maximise space without obstructing traffic. Pair the warm mahogany timber with neutral wall tones, contemporary artwork above, or minimalist ceramic table lamps.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent drying or fading of the veneer. Apply beeswax polish along the wood grain twice yearly, and dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth.
