Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco clocks from the 1930s are defined by strong geometric forms, bold typography, and modern industrial materials such as Bakelite and chrome. Originating in France, this aesthetic reflected the Machine Age with streamlined shapes, stepped architectural details, and symmetrical balances.

Clocks from this era frequently combined moulded phenol formaldehyde resin, commonly known as Bakelite, with polished chrome or nickel accents. Dials often featured brass or aluminium components protected by clear glass covers.

Authentic Bakelite items feature a heavy feel, subtle mould seams, and a characteristic phenolic scent when friction-warmed. Original clocks also exhibit period-accurate dial markings, such as manufacturer logos or country of origin stamps like Made in France.

Position the clock as a focal decorative object on a fireplace mantelpiece, executive desk, or floating wall shelf. Its rich dark tone and geometric chrome frame integrate well into dark academia, mid-century modern, or eclectic interior schemes.

Dust the Bakelite casing regularly using a dry, soft lint-free microfibre cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical solvents, water, or abrasive cleaners, and keep the clock away from direct sunlight and heat sources to preserve the finish.
