Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco mantel clocks feature strong geometric shapes, bold graphic typography, and streamlined profiles typical of 1920s and 1930s design. They often incorporate modern materials such as chrome, Bakelite, glass, and polished marble or onyx.

During the 1930s, British manufacturers frequently utilised chrome-plated metal, early plastics like Bakelite, cast iron, and walnut or oak veneers, contrasting metallic finishes with dark structural bases.

Authentic Smiths timepieces usually feature maker marks such as Smiths, Smiths Enfield, or Smiths Synchronous printed on the dial alongside Made in England at the bottom of the clock face.

An Art Deco clock can be placed on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard, or study desk to introduce geometric interest and contrast clean modern lines with historic design.

Chrome surfaces should be dusted with a microfibre cloth and cleaned using non-abrasive metal cleaners to prevent scratching, while mechanical movements require periodic professional servicing.
