Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A decanter label, historically known as a wine ticket, is a metal tag suspended around the neck of a decanter to identify its contents. Popularised in the eighteenth century, these labels served as practical and decorative barware accessories for formal dining.

Traditional decanter labels were crafted from solid silver, silver plate, or mother-of-pearl, featuring hand-engraved, die-struck, or pierced lettering. Fine silver suspension chains were attached via jump rings to allow the tag to drape over glass decanters.

Authentic British silver decanter labels feature official hallmarks, including a maker mark, lion passant quality mark, assay office stamp, and date letter. Genuine pieces often display subtle hand-engraving variations and natural historical wear around the chain loops.

Drape the silver label around a cut-crystal decanter arranged on a wooden sideboard, drinks trolley, or tray. Grouping multiple labelled decanters adds structured sophistication to a home bar or dining area.

Clean silver labels using a soft, lint-free cloth and a specialised silver polish, avoiding excessive pressure on intricate pierced lettering. Store them in anti-tarnish cloth covers when not on display to prevent oxidisation.
