Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Decanter labels, historically known as bottle tickets, emerged in the 1730s when clear glass decanters gained popularity. They were created to identify contents such as wines, spirits, and sauces, evolving from simple cut shapes to detailed metalwork.

Most antique bottle tickets were crafted from sterling silver, Sheffield plate, or silver plate. Sheared sheet metal was hand-engraved, die-stamped, or decorated with repousse motifs before attaching a chain for suspension.

Authenticity is verified by inspecting official British silver hallmarks, which indicate the maker, town mark, purity, and date letter. Period pieces also show signs of hand-engraving and authentic link wear on the chain attachments.

Drape the label over a clear glass or cut-crystal decanter arranged on a drinks trolley, sideboard, or tray. Grouping multiple labelled decanters creates a cohesive, traditional barware display.

Gently wipe the silver with a soft microfibre cloth and specialized silver polish to remove tarnish without stripping natural patination. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes that could scratch the surface or delicate chain links.
