Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Developed during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, tilt-top tables feature a hinged top mechanism that rotates vertically when not in use, allowing the piece to be stored flat against a wall to conserve space.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany, walnut, or oak, featuring turned central pillars supported by three hand-shaped cabriole legs, often secured with iron or brass catch mechanisms.

Authentic period examples display hand-turned central columns, brass tilt latches under the table surface, natural timber shrinkage over time, and hand-carved joinery on the tripod base.

Position the table in an alcove or corner with the top tilted upward to feature the wood grain, or place it horizontally beside a armchair as a functional surface for lighting and books.

Keep the wood nourished with clear beeswax applied along the grain twice yearly, avoid placement near direct heat sources, and ensure the spring catch mechanism remains lightly lubricated without forcing the hinge.
